Elizabethtown | Lobar Construction Management & Design-Build | 2POV | Retail |
When General RV, the nation’s largest family-owned RV dealer, set its sights on expanding into Elizabethtown, they entrusted Lobar Construction Management to lead the ambitious, multi-phased, multi-year development of their new campus. Designed to accommodate up to 250 RVs on site and equipped with 45 service bays, the facility would become a regional hub for sales, service, and customer support—all while maintaining full operational status throughout the construction process.
In the first year, the project began with the demolition of the previous farm equipment store interiors to make way for the new floorplan. Renovations to Buildings A and B quickly followed, transforming the sales and service floor and adding the body shop service bays. Simultaneously, Lobar developed detailed construction documents for the upcoming phases, working to expedite the permitting process and keep the project on track.
Year two focused on enhancing the operational infrastructure. Renovations to Building C were completed, and a new fuel island was constructed using a multi-level ICB (K-Block) retaining wall system, allowing for efficient fuel distribution across the site. One of the major additions this year was a state-of-the-art, 54-foot-long paint booth, supported by an extensive air makeup system to ensure top-tier finishes and environmental control.
By the third year, attention turned to the large-scale expansion. The sales footprint grew with a new 14,000 square-foot expansion, and a 7,500 square-foot warranty write-up canopy was constructed to streamline service intake and improve customer experience. A roughly 20-acre parking lot was added, supported by a new retaining wall system. Site crews also provided massive amounts of cut-fill, fine grading, retention pond and landscaping.
Throughout the project, Lobar Construction Management served as the full CM-at-Risk partner, working in concert with Lobar Design & Engineering and Lobar Associates. Their in-house teams—including site work, masonry, roofing, and specialty construction divisions—self-performed key elements of the build, allowing for greater quality control and cost efficiency. Despite the scale and complexity, the project stayed under budget and experienced minimal business interruptions—even during a major utility upgrade to the building.
The result: a fully modernized, customer-friendly General RV facility, completed without compromising daily operations.
